Its leaves were dazzling shades of gold and silver. The branches were thick and sturdy, and its roots were immovable. The tree was worshipped by all the other trees even the wind was never far from the extraordinary tree, and when it blew, you could hear the leaves softly applauding its splendor.

It grew at the very tippy top of the tree and was difficult to reach, so the exceptional tree chose to grow from it a smaller tree that was easier to pick the fruit from. It called out for the wind to shake free a piece of fruit. It tumbled to the ground, and from it a seed was planted. The special tree watched as a smaller tree sprouted, and its tiny leaves grew into something magnificent, with the same sturdy branches and immovable roots.
The Arrival of False Importance
One day, an orchard owner, who was unkind and thought himself of great importance, came to the grand forest to taste the fruit he had heard so much about.
The Orchard of Deception
Meanwhile, the man who thought himself of great importance led the people to his orchard. “Try my fruit,” he said. “Taste and see how delicious it is.” The villagers looked around and saw the trees withered and dying. The fruit was bruised and rotting off the branches. The people trusted the orchard owner who claimed himself to be of great importance, so they ate the foul fruit with the promise of it being better than the fruit from the humble tree.
When the Scent of Truth Returned
The gust brought the aroma of something delightful. The familiar smell swept past their noses, and the arguing immediately stopped. The people recognized the scent from the tree they tore down. They were in disbelief. “We cut down the tree in the garden,” someone said. “We must follow the wind back to the garden to see for ourselves where the smell is coming from.”
Life Could Not Be Destroyed
There it stood, the tree they thought they destroyed, full of life and greatness. The noble little tree they thought they tore down had grown bigger and more beautiful. Its branches were heavy with fruit, waiting to be picked.
